Vincent Chen

Vincent is the younger of a pair of identical twins born and raised in the back room of their neighborhood's foreign grocery. His brother Michael has always been the golden child, the perfect Chinese son who brings home straight A's and takes care of his mother. Vince, on the other hand, is almost never out of trouble; his particular knack for disappointing his mom has persisted into adulthood. Despite this, he still has a good relationship with his family. They don't often know what he's up to, but he checks in occasionally to help his brother's catering business or keep an eye on his toddler niece.

After very narrowly skating through high school, Vince moved out of the house as soon as possible and has since bounced around jobs with no real goal in sight. He started working as an escort at around 23, and he's been doing some form of sex work ever since. Vince is great (or horrible) about compartmentalizing his feelings. He's got years of practice putting on an act of being charming and aloof. His confidence isn't entirely fake; he puts in effort to keep himself looking good. For the latter half of his life, his body has been most of what keeps him employed, so he takes care of it.

Secretly, he's a pretty healthy cook. His brother is the one who actually went to culinary school; for now, Vince's kitchen antics are just a hobby.

Vincent's been out of his rebellious phase for a while now, but elements of it remain in the form of tattoos and disposition. He still wears mostly black clothes or worn jeans and boots when he's not trying to dress nice for work, and it's looking like the scar on his face is going to be a permanent feature. He's grown up a lot emotionally over the last half of his twenties, and while he has no major regrets, he does occasionally envy his brother's "normal" job.

Somewhere beneath the 'bad boy' exterior, Vincent's actually a pretty good listener. He's not close with too many people, but if he genuinely likes you, he'll bend over backwards to help you out.

He's not actively bothered by mess and clutter, but he is a bit of a neatnik when he's in his own space. (He cooks and he does sex work. Expect him to passively tidy up and wipe things down once eyes are off of him.)

He doesn't drink anymore unless someone buys him one. He's still guilty of a cigarette once in a while, though.

Vince has a weird sense of humor that sometimes takes the form of an affection for ugly or 'wonky' things. Tacky coffee mugs. Cake wrecks. He's fond of little imperfections.
